AEDs installed on all main sites

The College is pleased to announce that automatic external defibrillators (AED’s) have now been installed in the reception areas at Conway Park, Twelve Quays, Wirral Waters and The Oval. They are state of the art Heartsine Samaritan units that are very user friendly and suitable for the needs of the College.  The defibrillators are housed in wall mounted grey alarmed steel cabinets. The units are clearly marked by a green defibrillator sign and there is also a large A3 size poster detailing how they work.

Whilst no training is required in the use of the defibrillators as the unit itself guides the user through each step of the procedure, the College will be providing reassurance training to qualified first aiders in the first instance, to ensure confidence with the new equipment. New training units that mirror the actual operational units have also been purchased to this effect.

Below is a link to an online promotional video highlighting the features and use of the units.

The installation of AED’s in the campuses forms part of the ongoing commitment to provide a safe and healthy work environment for all and is a vital component in the College’s first aid provision. Please do take the time to have a look at the units, poster and video and encourage students to do likewise.

If there are any questions surrounding AED’s then please feel free to contact the College Health and Safety Manager Kenny Scott.
